HYDERABAD: Pradesh Congress Committee’s coordination committee will meet here on Sunday to review the political situation in the state and to take a final decision on selection of candidates for the 18 Assembly seats for which byelections will be held on June 12. Basing on the recommendations of the committee, the party high command will release the list of candidates’ names. Apart from byelections, the meeting will also discuss the government’s performance. The meeting will be held at the chief minister’s camp office and may go on till 7 pm. It will be presided over by AICC general secretary and in-charge of the state party affairs Ghulam Nabi Azad and  attended by committee members N.Kiran Kumar Reddy, B.Satyanarayana, D. Rajanarasimha, K.Sambasiva Rao, K.Chiranjeevi, D.Srinivas and Shabbir Ali. Azad is likely to leave for Delhi around 8.30 pm.The coordination committee has met twice since its constitution and  taken several decisions but not one of them has been implemented by the party. The high command, which held several meetings with the chief minister and the PCC chief in Delhi, has also failed to ensure implementation of the committee’s recommendations. Citing an example, a party leader said the committee decided to popularise central and state government programmes, one of which is the `100-day campaign’ but the party did not launch the campaign. The cold war between the PCC president and the chief minister is continuing and it has affected selection of candidates for the byelections. In the previous round of byelections, the chief minister dominated the election show with his supporters in Telangana.Several leaders say coordination committee meetings have lost their importance and criticise that Ghulam Nabhi Azad convenes the meetings only when it suits him and when he has some personal programmes to attend in Hyderabad.“The APCC Coordination Committee’s first meeting was held in the backdrop of a Muslim minority meeting which Azad addressed. The second meeting was held when Azad visited the city to enquire about a matrimonial alliance for his draughter. Now that he is coming to the city to attend a private programme, he has decided to convene the committee meeting,’’ a leader said.
