HYDERABAD: The APTransco has decided to impose power cuts only on two days in a week on the industrial sector. The decision was taken following representations by the Federation of AP Small Industries Associations (FAPSIA) and Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) to the government.APTransco chairman and managing director Ajay Jain informed industries minister J Geeta Reddy about the decision to reduce power holiday to two days from three days in a week.Geetha Reddy received representations from the industries sector at the secretariat over the debilitating impact the power shut down had on production.Lakhs of employees in the industries would not have livelihood for a good portion of a month if three-day power cut continues, they reportedly told her.The minister explained to them the difficulties the power utilities were facing in supplying power to the industrial sector. Till April the situation would be tough for all the sectors. In fact agriculture consumes more than 30 to 40 per cent of power generated in the state. As there is no way power could be procured from other states to the extent that is needed because of lack of availability of power and the technical problems in transmission of power, the state utilities had resorted to imposition of cuts, she said.
