NARASANNAPETA(SRIKAKULAM): “When I heard loud cries of children and teachers from the school, I rushed to the spot, only to see my daughter lying in a pool of blood,” said Lakshmi, mother of 10-year-old Swathi who was killed at Narasannapeta in Srikakulam district on Saturday. Lakshmi was working as a daily-wage labourer at a vegetable shop near the school when a masked man, armed with a knife, attacked the students of Zilla Parishad Primary School when they had gathered for the evening prayers. “Since Swathi was standing on the last row, she was attacked first by the man who was about 5.5 feet tall and aged between 35 to 40 years,” teacher K Ramakrishna told Express. Meanwhile, even twenty-four hours since the incident, police have found no clues regarding the masked man. Locals, however, believe he is a psycho. Superintendent of police KVV Gopala Rao denied that the man is a psycho. “The attack on the students was deliberate. If he was psycho, he would not have hidden his identity and absconded,” he said adding that investigation is on to uncover the motive behind the attack.
