Jaipur: Shelter home head vows to fight for HIV+ children
The head of the shelter home, of which four HIV+ children were reportedly denied admission in a school, plans to take up the issue with the health and education department. Sushila, in-charge of Positive Women Network of Rajasthan (PWNR) told, “I am planning to meet officials of education and health department on Mondayor Tuesday to try and get admission for these children.”
Udaipur: Medical College accused of irregularities in counselling
Parents of the students created a ruckus alleging irregularity in admission process during the counseling session in Geetanjali Medical College in Udaipur on Friday. The parents alleged that college administration has included names of students who have already been allotted admission in other medical colleges in the merit list. Parents were also agitated over the delay in releasing the merit list. Besides during the counseling session it is mandatory that a representative of All India Medical Council has to be present but no one was there. College delayed in releasing the merit list and it was only after parents’ pressure, it was finally released at 11.30am.
Bikaner: PDS’s wheat bags left unattended in rain
At Lalgarh railway station in Bikaner wheat bags have been brought by Food Corporation of India (FCI), Bikaner, to be distributed among poor people of Bikaner under Public Distribution System (PDS). Despite the fact that it is a rainy season and keeping the grains in open might spoil it, the bags have still been left in such condition. Also lots of animals wander in this area, which is another danger for the grains. Jodhpur: Social organisation raises question against oil refinery
Terming the joint venture for upcoming refinery with Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) as “detrimental” to state’s economy, a newly formed social organisation ‘Jagruk Jantantrik Munch’ has raised the question over financial viability of the project. It has asked the state government to withdraw its joint venture with HPCL or renegotiate the terms with the public sector company. They are saying that they are not against the refinery, but in which way government is going, is not acceptable.
Jaipur: Infant abandoned on street corner, admitted in hospital
A newborn baby boy was found abandoned in an empty cement bag lying on a street corner at Gangauri Bazar, police said on Friday. The baby, found last night, was rushed to a hospital here where his condition was normal, police said. In a separate incident, unidentified body of a youth was found on rail track at Sanganer this morning. The body was sent for post-mortem, police said.
Bhilwara: Insufficient budget hinders compensation money of malnutrition victims
The district administration is yet to pay the compensation of lakh each to the families of two adults who died of malnutrition in 2010. The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) had ordered payment of the compensation on April 1. On July 3, district collector Onkar Singh wrote to the additional chief secretary (home and human rights) as a reminder to provide a special budget for the compensation to the two families in Bhilwara.
Bhilwara: Anti-worm drug supplied under medicine scheme kills 65 sheep
At least 65 sheep died after allegedly eating a worm killer medicine supplied by the veterinary department in Bhilwara on Friday. The symptoms and postmortem findings suggest they died from severe toxicity. This was uncovered in a preliminary investigation conducted by veterinary doctors at Bishniya villages, 40 kilometers in Bhilwara. Two shepherds, Shankar Gurjar and Narayan Gurjar said that the deaths took place after the sheeps were given Klozanide-L oral suspension. The medicine was administered by a government veterinary hospital, Bishaniya under Chief Minister free Medicine scheme.
