Murty library row: Narayana Murthy's son backs Professor Pollock, says people are trying to defame him
Murty says it was worrying to see his detractors resorting to such actions only to defame the professor.

Amidst the growing chorus for the removal of Professor Sheldon Pollock as the chief editor of the Murty Classical Library, Infosys founder Narayana Murthy's son Rohan Murthy has come out in his support.

Professor Pollock came under fire after he signed a petition supporting Jawaharlal Nehru Students, a counter-petition pedalled by several academicians has sought for Pollock's removal from the Murty Classical Library.

Murty says it was worrying to see his detractors resorting to such actions only to defame the professor.

Rohan said, "Some people have taken Sheldon Pollock's speech from 2012 and doctored it. Some websites have carried stories about this. If there are people out there who are resorting to this just to defame Professor Pollock then that is worrying. They are free to disagree with me or Pollock, but if they become disagreeable, then it becomes difficult."

"In the six years after the launch of Murty Library, no one has come to me pointing out flaws. None of these people who have signed this petition have approached me. We are open to constructive criticism," he said.
