ERODE: A man accused of murdering his wife three days ago in Munnar in Idukki district of Kerala, committed suicide at his house in Pattimaniakaranpalayam, Nambiyur, near Gobi on Wednesday.According to sources, Mahesh (30), a resident of Chennai, got married to Shyamala (23), daughter of Rani of Mambalam in Chennai, three years ago. Shyamala and Mahesh had been colleagues at a computer firm in Bangalore. On October 7, the couple visited Munnar and stayed in a lodge there.Following a quarrel, Mahesh allegedly strangled Shyamala. He then fled the spot after locking the room. Based on a complaint from the staff of the lodge, the Munnar police filed a case.Following a tip-off from some autorickshaw drivers, whom the couple had engaged for touring the place, the Munnar police left for Chennai in search of Mahesh.However, on Tuesday night, Mahesh’s body was allegedly found hanging from a neem tree behind his house in his native Pattimaniakaranpalayam.Mahesh was said to be in bad terms with his parents, especially his father Subramaniam, and had not visited his native place for several years. Mahesh’s body was sent to the Gobi General Hospital by the police, who suspect that he could have ended his life fearing police action over his wife’s murder.20-page Suicide NoteMahesh reportedly left behind more than 20 pages of notes and letters addressed to his father, Subramanian, mother Amutha, Shyamala, sister Praba and also to the police. In his letter to his parents, he spoke of his affection towards them. He also wrote that he had murdered his wife suspecting her fidelity.He also left behind a 15-page letter, citing the reasons for the murder. He wanted to take revenge on Shyamala for her friendship with two youth, whom he searched for in Chennai. He then returned home and committed suicide, the letter stated.
