Minister charged with assault

PUDUCHERRY: The Auroville police has registered a case against AINRC legislator P Karthikeyan after he allegedly assaulted a man driving a car and his sister following a trivial incident involving two vehicles at Thiruchitrambalam junction near here. The assault took place after the rear view mirrors of the two vehicles brushed each other while crossing the junction on Thursday.Prabhakar, who was driving the car in which the unwell baby of his sister Prabhavathi was being rushed to a hospital, in his complaint  to police alleged that the MLA and his driver Vinoth assaulted him.After the vehicles touched each other, Vinoth got down and entered into an argument with Prabhakar. Karthikeyan then joined him and assaulted Prabhkar.  Prabhavathi came out of the car after seeing her brother being beaten up and Karthikeyan then allegedly pushed her forcefully. She was later admitted to a hospital after she complained of bleeding.According to the investigation officer, a case was registered against Karthikeyan and Vinoth under sections of IPC 341 (wrongful restraint), 323 ((voluntarily causing hurt) and 294 (b) (obscene act). A case was registered against Prabhakar under IPC 341 (wrongful restraint) and 323, 506 (2) (criminal intimidation).
