The Himachal Pradesh government has put more than 500 personnel from the national disaster response force, army and paramilitary into the search operations.

Manali: The parents of the engineering college students washed away by waters released from Larji Dam in Mandi have lost hope of finding them alive. All they want now is quick retrieval of their bodies and are seeking more resources to be put to work to get the remains of their children.

As paramilitary personnel truck pulls up at a temporary operations center in Pandoh from where rescue efforts are being coordinated, anxious parents rush forward to see if the body in the truck is of their child.

Second year B Tech student Sadir Hussain's mother cries out on identifying him. She had been hoping he would make it alive as he was a strong swimmer.

Ishita Reddy is another missing student. She is one of three girls missing now.

Six bodies have been found and 18 are missing. Her father Krishna Reddy says his wait is excruciating and he does not know how he would react on seeing her body.
