THOOTHUKUDI: Three persons, including a college lecturer, were arrested on Wednesday for raping a minor girl since 2009 by blackmailing her using her nude photographs. Police said, Arun (25), an M.Sc Electronics graduate of Raju Nagar in Kovilapatti, is a lecturer in an Arts and Science College. In 2009, while conducting a tuition centre, he seduced a 16-year-old girl promising to marry her. He gave cool drinks mixed with drugs and took obscene photos of her. Later, showing her photos, he threatened the girl and had sex with her forcefully. He also forced her to have sex with his friends.One year ago, Arun married another woman. Even after his marriage, Arun continued to threaten the girl and forcefully had sex with her. He also took away 2.5 sovereigns of gold chain from her. As the harassment continued, the girl informed her parents, who lodged a complaint with Thoothukudi West Police on Tuesday. A case was registered under different sections, including 376 (rape), 384, 385, 506 (2) IPC and section 4 of Women Harassment Act and section 66 of Information Technology Act 2000. Arun and his friends Ramkumar (25) of Madurai and Sugumar (23) of Kovilpatti were arrested and remanded in judicial custody.
