Lebanon: A Lebanese government official says the country is trying to determine who launched rockets from southern Lebanon into Israel Thursday.

The official also said Lebanon is committed to a U.N.-brokered truce that ended the brutal 2006 war between the militant group Hezbollah and Israel.

The official spoke on condition of anonymity in line with government regulations.

As many as three rockets were fired from southern Lebanon into Israel on Thursday. Israel responded by firing mortars across the border.

There were no serious injuries in either attack.

The brief cross-border exchange was the first since Israel launched an offensive against the militant group Hamas in the Gaza Strip on December 27.
