Uttarakhand Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna on Monday ordered that lands occupied by displaced families in the city's Premnagar area for years be allocated to them.
Complying with the Chief Minister's orders, the process of granting allocation of land leases was initiated with their distribution among 20 displaced families of Premnagar area, an official release in Dehradun said.
Over 2,000 families displaced after the country's partition or later by various hydel projects in the state have been living in the locality since 1947. About one lakh people in the state will be benefited by the policy which will also apply to citizens coming under the Government Grant Act.
