THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The pro-CPM Kerala University Employees’ Union (KUEU), which had earlier locked horns with Vice-Chancellor A Jayakrishnan over the issue of transfer of officials from the Finance Department, finally withdrew the protest on Monday. The officials belonging to the KUEU, who were reluctant to get relieved from the department and join duty at their new posts, accepted the transfer orders. Sources said that the intervention by LDF Syndicate members was the reason to withdraw the protest which began on Friday. Sources said that the failure of the top officials of the Finance Department in taking necessary steps to release funds for the renovation of the university hostel at Kariavattom was the reason for the transfer.The Vice-Chancellor transferred all the top officials of the university on Friday, including the joint registrar holding the charge of the finance officer. The other officials transferred weredeputy registrar, assistant registrar and a section officer.
