Thiruvananthapuram: The results of the SSLC examination set a new record with 93.64 per cent candidates proving eligible for higher studies in the state. In 2011, the pass per cent was 91.37. While 711 schools registered cent per cent pass, 6,995 students acquired A grade or above for all subjects. No moderation was given and no results have been withheld. The SAY examination would be held from May 14 to 16.
Of the 4,69,919 students appeared for the examination in the state, 4,40,046 are eligible for higher studies. While Kannur has the highest pass per centage, 96.93 per cent, Palakkad recorded the lowest pass per centage, 86.91 per cent.
Kozhikode has the highest number of students who secured A+ grade. Of the 107 schools adopted by the department where 'quality improvement project' had been undertaken, only 2 schools registered less than 50 per cent pass.
Announcing the results, Education Minister P K Abdu Rabb said that the examination results were declared in a month, which was a record for the department. In the Gulf, the results registered 99 per cent pass and in Lakshadweep it is 69 per cent.
In the SSLC (Hearing Impaired) examination, out of 383 students who appeared for the examination, 374 passed. Pass per centage is 98 per cent. In the THSLC examination, the pass per centage is 98 per cent and 3,059 students became eligible for higher studies out of the 3,107 students who appeared for the examination.
The certificates would be distributed from May 15. "The headmasters of respective schools have been given the power to make corrections with regard to the date of birth, initial and name. The Pareekshabhavan is flooded with complaints for such amendments which prompted us to make the move," said Abdu Rabb.
The results of the SAY examinations to be held from May 14 to 16 would be announced by the end of May. The applications for SAY examination would be received at the respective examination centres till May 3.
Applications for admissions to plus-one would be issued from May 3 and the trial allotment will begin on June 6. The classes would begin on June 28 and the admissions would close on August 10.
A total of 3,07,200 seats are available for plus-one admissions in 1,812 schools in the state. In addition to this, 53,645 seats are available in the 371 un-aided higher secondary schools.
