Incheon: Jyoti Randhawa endured a long day, playing 24 holes, but moved to three-under after 36 holes in the euro 2,205,000 Ballantines Championship where play was suspended due to fading light on Friday.
Randhawa was the top Indian in provisional 24th place at three-under, as he first completed his first round in even par 72 and then added a second round 69. SSP Chowrasia and Shiv Kapur were also set to make the cut as they sat at one-under. Chowrasia, who shot 71 in first round, still had six holes to play in second round, while Kapur had seven more holes to go.
Things were looking somewhat grim for others, as C Muniyappa was tied 66th at 66th with 13 more holes to go. The seasoned Jeev Milkha Singh, who had 73 in first round, was one-over through 11 holes in second and from two-over he will need to make up fast to make the cut.
Gaganjeet Bhullar was further down at three-over after a 72 in first round. He has eight more holes to go.
Anirban Lahiri (74-75) was sure to miss the cut and Himmat Rai (77 and even par after eight holes) would need a big fightback to stay on first last two rounds. Also going home early was Digvijay Singh (79-74).
Thailands Arnond Vongvanij posted a second round three-under-par 69 to share the clubhouse lead with Australias Wade Ormsby, winner of the Panasonic Open India.
Ormsby also continued his solid run following his maiden Asian Tour victory in India earlier this month by signing for a 67 to lead the field with his two-day total of seven-under-par 137 at the Blackstone Golf Club.
Randhawa made light of a bogey start with three birdies on front nine to turn in two-under. Another birdie on 11th, meant he was three-under through 11 holes. But a double bogey on par-3 13th set him back before birdies on the 16th and 18th saw him recover well.
South Africas Jbe Kruger, who has one win on the Asian Tour, also in India, posted a 67 to take a share of third place with Swedens Alexander Noren and Englands James Morrison on 138 total.
77 players will return at 7.30am, local time on Saturday morning to complete their second round with the third round scheduled to start not before 11am.
After having his opening round disrupted by rains, the 25-year-old Arnond returned in the morning to complete his remaining eight holes and quickly moved within a shot of the leaders with his first round efforts of 68.
Meanwhile Ormsby also returned in the morning to complete his remaining five holes from his opening round before heading back for his second round where he traded six birdies against a lone bogey.
Inclement weather in the morning brought play to a halt again and when it finally resumed after more than an hour, Ormsby returned to the par-four second, only to dropped a shot there.
