Educationist Jeppiaar (73) on Wednesday was released on interim bail from the Vellore Central Prison for Men, where he had been imprisoned from August 9, in connection with the death of nine migrant workers in a stadium wall collapse in Jeppiaar Institute of Technology at Kunnam village near Sriperumbudur. The accident took place on August 6. Superintendent of Vellore Central Prison N Arivudainambe received the bail bond from the Judicial Magistrate Court, Sriperumbudur, around 12.50 pm. After going through the bail bond and completing other procedures, the prison administration released him. Jeppiaar came out of the prison at 1.25 pm, said the sources in prison. After his release, Jeppiaar was shifted to Christian Medical College Hospital, in an ambulance. He was admitted to the A-block in hospital, said police sources.
