Washington: The Indo-US relationship should be re-imagined as it is an important factor in India's future development and awaits its next quantum leap "patiently", Indian Ambassador to the US S Jaishankar said on Tuesday.
Jaishankar made the remarks during his key note address at the Washington launch of the book - "Re-Imagining India-Unlocking the potential of Asia's next super power".
Referring to the title of the book 'Re-Imagining India', Jaishankar said it is also time to re-imagine the India-US relationship. "Finally, if we are re-imagining India, perhaps we should also re-imagine the India-US relationship. It is an important factor in the future development of India. And it awaits its next quantum leap patiently," he said at the event organised jointly by McKinsey, Asia Society and the Brookings Institution.
The Indo-US ties were recently strained as a result of the arrest of senior Indian diplomat Devyani Khobragade in New York on visa fraud charges.
Khobragade, 39, was arrested on December 12 last year on visa fraud charges, strip-searched and held with criminals, triggering a row between the two countries with India retaliating by downgrading privileges of certain category of US diplomats among other steps.
