Heavy downpour in Vasai district leaves 7 villages submerged

Mumbai: Heavy rains lashed the eastern and western suburbs of Mumbai as they received 101 and 90 milimetre of rain respectively on Tuesday night.

As the downpour increased, seven villages in the Vasai district on the outskirts of Mumbai were completely submerged after heavy rains hit the city. As a result many parts were flooded.

Villagers have been evacuated from the low lying areas. Stranded villagers have been rescued in boats by the local fire brigade. The normal life of the people has been disrupted.

Areas where only 30 milimetre of rain was witnessed, it brought joy and respite to the people.
