KOCHI: The Kerala High Court on Wednesday disposed of the petition filed by former MP Sebastian Paul challenging Government Chief Whip P C George holding dual posts.The Election Commission on Wednesday submitted that the Governor was informed of the opinion with regard to the dual posts on January 19. The court recorded the submission and disposed of the petition.Sebastian Paul had earlier sent a petition to the Kerala Governor on July 15 last, alleging that George had incurred disqualification on account of his acceptance of an office of profit. On August 25, the Governor referred the question to the Election Commission seeking its opinion.The petitioner raised a constitutional issue relating to the disqualification of George, following his acceptance of an office of profit. He submitted that the Election Commission is constitutionally bound to state its opinion and it was delaying it. To which, the Election Commission said that the opinion had been informed to the Governor.
