GURUVAYUR: Hundreds of comrades from Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh, who had come to attend the CPM party congress in Kozhikode, offered prayers and conducted ‘Vazhipaad’ at the Sree Krishna temple here on Monday.“You noticed our vehicles decorated with party flags. Why should we play hide and seek? It is not religion that our party should fight against, but only the falsification of it in the interests of capitalistic society,” clarified a delegate from Erode who offered ‘Thulabharam’ with sugar and paid `1,265 at the temple. He was accompanied by his wife and daughter-in- law. “They are not full-time CPM activists,” said the leader of the 35-member team.At least six buses with Tamil Nadu registration and a couple of vehicles from Andhra Pradesh reached Guruvayur on Monday morning. Most of them were from different districts and not in touch with each other.Vehicles adorned with CPM flags with hammer and sickle made a hit with the local people. Asked whether they adhered to Hindu doctrine instead of waging the class war, a young woman comrade from Andhra Pradesh said: “Are you deliberately attempting to blacken the red flag? We came here not to perform ‘Shathru Samhaara Pooja’ (a ritual aimed to neutralise an enemy). It is just a picnic.”
