New Delhi: Indicating Pakistan's hand behind the recent Gurdaspur terrorist attack, intelligence sources on Friday said that the siege could not have been possible without the backing of ISI and Pakistan army.
A comparison between the 26/11 terrorist attack in Mumbai and the Gurdaspur attack shows striking similarities except for the place of origin of terrorists and of the respective attacks.
In both the attacks, the terrorists were on a suicide mission, armed with sophisticated weapons and very clearly had an intention to kill as many people as possible.
The places attacked in Gurdaspur were railway tracks, state bus, police station and city secretariat while the 26/11 terrorists attacked the Chattrapati Shivaji Terminus, 5 star hotels, Leopold cafe, Cama hospital and Nariman House.
Terror returned to the Punjab on July 27 after more than a decade leaving behind a trail of death and destruction as the group of heavily armed terrorists launched a suicide attack at a police station in Dinanagar in Gurdaspur district of the Punjab in the morning reviving fears of Khalistani terror groups making a comeback in the state.
The terrorists killed seven people including one Superintendent of Police Baljeet Singh and three home guards before all of them were eliminated.
