CHENNAI: Ascendas’ Green Month campaign reached an exciting stage in its fourth week at the International Tech Park, Taramani. After director-turned-farmer Mansoor Khan enlightened techies on growth and environment a week ago, it was renowned singer Benny Dayal’s turn last Wednesday to enthrall them with his energetic performance. The crowd had started gathering at the porch of the Crest Building even before dusk had set. The concert, titled Benny Dayal Live, was a full house and ready to rock the evening. The vivacious singer set out with last year’s most favourite melody, Omana Pennae, from Vinnai Thandi Varuvaya. It worked like magic as the crowd swooned to the melodious performance. Benny went on to sing the peppy numbers of yesteryears, and by the time he started Andha Arabi Kadaloram from Bombay, the audiences turned equally racy. They started clapping hands, moving rhythmically to the tunes and even started singing along. The singer took advantage of the interest of audiences and encouraged them to sing aloud, in order to take breath in between.Adding life to the event was the dancers who performed on stage till the end of the show for every number the singer sung. To add to the excitement, Benny danced along too. Songs like Taxi Taxi from Sakkarakatti and Oorvasi Oorvasi from Kadhalan were also well received by the audiences. With thunderous music from large speakers placed at all corners coupled with the pleasant scenario, everybody seemed to be enjoying the concert thoroughly.
