Centre is determined to carry on with the project as per their original plan.
New Delhi: The Government has decided that it wants to proceed with the Sethusamundram Project.
It will ask the Supreme Court to lift the stay order on work on the controversial project. Minister of Shipping, T R Baalu will be submitting evidence of alleged dredging done by the earlier governments.
Sources tell CNN-IBN that the Centre is determined to carry on with the project as per their original plan without changing the path.
This has been opposed by the Sangh Parivar as it goes through the Ram Sethu or chain of shoals between India and Sri lanka.
The BJP and Hindu organisations had earlier strongly protested against the project following which work was stayed.
