BHUBANESWAR: The State Government on Tuesday ordered an inquiry basing on a report in which a District Inspector (DI) of Schools was allegedly beaten up by a woman employee with broomstick on the office premises at Soro in Balasore district. School and Mass Education Minister Pratap Jena told mediapersons here that the incident had taken place in the DI’s office at Soro in the presence of staff members on Monday and would be inquired into.  According to police, two FIRs had been lodged in the Soro police station in this regard, one by Soro DI Nirmal Patnaik and another by Anita Nayak, data entry operator in the DI office. Nayak had alleged that Patnaik misbehaved with her in the office and tore her sari when she demanded the money which she claimed to have given him for the promise of being made a permanent employee. While Nayak claimed that the DI had taken the bribe and was now playing mischief, Patnaik refuted the allegation as ‘false and motivated’.Unable to get her money back, the woman allegedly picked up two brooms and beat up the DI before others intervened, police said.  Police have arrested Anita and another Class IV employee in the same office Chittaranjan Mohanty and forwarded them to court which granted them bail.
