KADAPA: A five year old girl was crushed to death under the rear wheels of the school bus at Mydukur on Thursday.
Arthika of Laxmipeta in Chapadu mandal, was studying first standard at Shantiniketan High School in Mydukur, which is 10 km away from her village. She boarded the school bus at her house this morning as usual. While she was getting down from the bus on the school premises, Arthika's water bottle fell down from her bag. While she was trying to take the bottle fell under the bus, driver Nageswara Rao moved the vehicle without noticing the girl under it, resulting in instantaneous death of Arthika.

On hearing the news of Arthika's death, her parents Kiran and Rani and their relatives rushed to the school. The irate family members attacked the school bus and staged a protest demanding action against the bus driver. The police rushed to the spot and pacified her family members. Later, the bus driver was arrested.

All the schools in Mydukur were closed for the day to mourn the death of Arthika.
