From Punjab to Prison: Young Man's Canadian Dream Turns Sour in Fake Visa Scam
Vietnamese authorities uncovered the falsified Canadian visa, leading to Karmandar's deportation back to the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport in Delhi.

Dreams of a promising future in Canada turned into a nightmare for 22-year-old Karmandar Singh from Darpur village, Gurudaspur (Punjab), after a fraudulent visa scheme orchestrated through Vietnam landed him in legal trouble. Karmandar’s aspirations led him to Jagjeet Singh, alias Jaggi, who claimed to facilitate his immigration to Canada, including job arrangements in exchange for Rs 14 lakh. Karmandar entrusted Jagjeet with his passport and hopes for a new life abroad.

However, the promises quickly unraveled when Karmandar attempted to transit through Hanoi with the visas provided by Jagjeet. Vietnamese authorities uncovered the falsified Canadian visa, leading to Karmandar’s deportation back to the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport in Delhi.

Upon his return, immigration authorities detained Karmandar and subsequently handed him over to the IGI Airport Police. Charges under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and Passport Act were filed against him following preliminary inquiries. Investigations continue to uncover the extent of the operation and potential accomplices.
