New Delhi: The film has been making headlines ever since its inception days. After a sensitive coming of age film called 'Wake Up Sid', Ayan Mukerji, Karan Johar and Ranbir Kapoor were teaming up once again for a light frothy romantic film.
But 'Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani' made news not only for the trio but also for the selection of the leading lady. While earlier names like Katrina Kaif, Nargis Fakhri were thrown around and perhaps even considered, Karan Johar made a casting coup of sorts when he managed to convince Ranbir's former girlfriend Deepika to join the crew.
The news came as a surprise more so because it was the same Deepika Padukone who had made snide comments about her ex boyfriend on Karan Johar's show a few years back along with actress Sonam Kapoor. But having the buried the hatched, Deepika and Ranbir perhaps signed the film to start afresh.
But is the film only about Ranbir and Deepika's crackling chemistry post break up? We think there other things as well that might make this film a blockbuster.

Ayan Mukerji: He proved his mettle in 'Wake Up Sid'. A young director, with filmmaking in his blood (he belongs to veteran producer Sashadhar Mukherjee's family) Ayan showed immense talent in his directorial debut. The coming of age saga struck a chord with almost everyone and put Ayan in the list of directors to watch out for. 'Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani' appears to be diametrically opposite to 'Wake Up Sid'. It would be interesting to see what the writer Ayan Mukerji has to offer this time round.
Pritam: Since the time the film's teaser trailer came out, the songs have caught the attention of country. Even before the music was released, the song 'Balam Pichkari' became viral. Composer Pritam somehow always knows what works with the audience and has belted out some foot tapping numbers which have already made their way to the chartbusters list.
Aditya Roy Kapur and Kalki Koechlin: With the stupendous success of 'Aashiqui 2', Aditya Roy Kapur has gained immense popularity. The actor who was till now seen playing the second lead in films, has established himself as an actor to watch out for. Cashing in on his current star status, Aditya and Ranbir's camaraderie on screen would be fun to watch. Meanwhile, known for doing art house and experimental films, Kalki takes a step towards commercial cinema and is even seen dancing in songs! The two actors have carved a niche for themselves and it would be interesting to see how their characters unfold in the narrative.
Madhuri Dixit: She is back and how! Looking absolutely gorgeous in the special appearance that she makes in the film, Madhuri just reminds you how some things never go out of fashion. The actress plays Mohini and dances with an absolutely smitten Ranbir Kapoor in 'Ghagra' song and reminds us that why there is no one like her.
Karan Johar: You like him or hate him, but Karan Johar knows what works in Bollywood. He may not be directly involved in the film's making and merely financing the film, but if you observe the stills of 'Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani' closely, you will find Johar's signature style in almost all the frames. After winning critical acclaim for his work in 'Bombay Talkies', Karan Johar comes back on screen with a film which is typically his kind and somehow we have a feeling that like his other films, this too will work .
