New Delhi: The much hyped premiere of the film Taj Mahal in Lahore grabbed eyeballs for more than one reason.
Actor-director Feroz Khan who was part of the Indian cavalcade at the premiere reportedly got into a scuffle with Sakre Aalam, the anchor of a party, that was being held at Lahore’s Royal Palms to celebrate the successful premiere of the film.
His younger brother and director of Taj Mahal Akbar Khan and son Fardeen intervened and kept the situation from getting out of hand.
The Indian delegation to Pakistan included actors Manisha Koirala, Shatrughan Sinha, Tourism and Culture Minster Ambika Soni and director Mahesh Bhatt.
Taj Mahal, became the second Indian film to be released in Pakistan in 41 years when it premiered in Lahore on Wednesday.
Mughal-e-Azam was the first film to be permitted for screening by the Government after the 1965 war.
Sohni Mahiwal is the other film that can be screened in Pakistan. The three films have been allowed as a "one-time exception" by the Pakistan Cultural Ministry despite the demand by local cinema hall owners and the film industry for lifting the ban on showing Indian films.
The ban was imposed after the 1965 war, and the Government has been reluctant to lift it despite innumerable representations from various quarters.
