Dismissing former Indian Premier League (IPL) commissioner Lalit Modi's "still waiting for summons" claim, the Enforcement Directorate considers the summons issued to him as received.
Notably, the ED has said that they were received even as Lalit Modi's lawyer claimed that the agency was not even authorised to issue summons.
However, according to ED sources, Modi's lawyers had accepted summons on July 3 and that they have an acknowledgement from the former IPL boss's solicitor.
Sources further said that if the former IPL commissioner fails to respond to the summons, the agency can move court for a non-bailable warrant or even issue a red corner notice.
Meanwhile, Lalit Modi has claimed that he is still waiting for the ED to officially serve him the summons. Taking to Twitter, the former IPL czar also claimed that the agency had his UK address.
Still waiting for ED to officially serve me summons at my UK residence. They have the address - why so long ? http://t.co/UejQrAsNYv— Lalit Kumar Modi (@LalitKModi) July 7, 2015
