New Delhi: In yet another case of abuse of a minor domestic help in the capital, a 25-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly repeatedly raping the family's teenaged maid over a period of two years and beating her.
The incident from Jamia Nagar area came to light when the 14-year-old victim approached a neighbour seeking his help on Tuesday after she was allegedly physically assaulted by Nadeem who was arrested, police said on Thursday.
The girl belongs to Sitamarhi in Bihar and has been working with Nadeem's family for the past over three years, a senior police official said.
The official said, she was thrashed by Nadeem and the girl went to the neighbour for help. When the neighbour intervened, there was a fight between him and the girl's employer.
The neighbour informed police following which the girl was taken for medical examination which confirmed that she was raped and physically assaulted.
The official claimed that the girl was raped two years ago for the first time allegedly by Nadeem, who threatened her with dire consequences if she revealed it to anyone. A week ago she was raped again.
His sister also allegedly used to beat the victim and the official claimed that there were burn marks on her right hand.
"We are verifying these claims," the official said. Nadeem has been sent to judicial custody by a court. The incident comes close on the heels of the shocking case of a doctor couple locking up a young maid without food in their house while they went abroad for a vacation.
