The Indirapuram police on Saturday registered a criminal case against the builder in whose building a fire broke out on Friday.

Indirapuram Inspector Rashid Ali told IANS that the FIR was registered following a complaint by one Jamit Kumar, a resident of ATS Residential Apartments.

Jamit has named the developing company ATS Advantage, chairman Anand Shah Talwar and general manager (facilities) Anil Jai Singh in his complaint.

About half-a-dozen cars, building material, wooden furniture and other articles were gutted after the fire broke out in the basement of ATS Residential Apartments in Indirapuram, adjoining the Shipra Mall on Friday.

Sixteen fire tenders from Noida, Sahibabad and Ghaziabad took about six hours to douse the flames, he said.

Chief Fire Officer (CFO) A.P. Singh said he found violations in fire safety norms. He added the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained since there are no electric wires in the basement that was being used to dump unused wooden furniture and building material, besides parking cars.

The labourers used the basement as their shelter where they also cooked their meals. So, the fire could also have started from there.
