Distancing itself from the stance of Opposition Leader V S Achuthanandan, who backed a CBI probe into T P Chandraskeharan murder case, the CPM politburo that met in New Delhi on Sunday, decided against an investigation by the Central agency.
The PB decision comes only days after VS backed the demand of TP’s widow K K Rema for a CBI inquiry to unravel the involvement of the CPM leadership in the murder case.
CPM general secretary Prakash Karat said the party is against a CBI probe and alleged that those raising the demand want to falsely implicate CPM leaders in the case.
He said that already many CPM leaders were wrongly accused in the case and the demand of a CBI probe was a political conspiracy to entrap CPM leaders in the case.
