CPI holds novel protest against garbage piling

PUDUCHERRY: CPI activists, on Wednesday, staged a novel demonstration by holding the funeral procession of a dust bin to register their protest against inaction by the authorities over clearing garbage at Kamarajar Nagar and other areas.Senior CPI state leaders R Viswanathan, Na Ra Kalainathan and Chandrasekharan attended the demonstration, organised near the Periyar statue. However, police blocked the demonstrations before they reached the collectorate.The activists then met collector Dr S B Deepak Kumar and submitted a memorandum drawing his attention to the issue.
