HYDERABAD: Malishetty Bhanu Kiran, the prime accused in the murder of factionist Gangula Suryanarayana Reddy alias Suri, spent his first day in prison reading newspapers.Bhanu Kiran was arrested by a CID team from the outskirts of Zaheerabad town in Medak district on Saturday after evading arrest for over 15 months.Bhanu was produced before the magistrate last night. He was given judicial remand till May 4 and shifted to Cherlapally jail here. Bhanu interacted with other inmates and enjoyed the `kichidi' served at breakfast, prison officials said.A few close friends of Bhanu came to the prison on Sunday to meet him but the prison official, however, did not give them permission to meet Bhanu. Besides, the CID, which is probing the case, is keeping an eye on visitors coming to the prison to meet Bhanu. The CID officials said they would file a petition in the court on Monday seeking police custody of Bhanu to thoroughly examine him in connection with Suri's murder and also confront him with the evidences regarding his involvement in 15 other cases relating to extortion, land grab and cheating across the state.
