BANGALORE: Fighting for their rights is their main agenda and these 40 child reporters have taken the onus upon themselves to bring about a change in  the system. Child rights activists across the state are fighting to bring about changes in the system and the law.The latest project by the Karnataka Child Rights’ Observatory (KCRO) has engaged over 40 children from four divisions and eight panchayats of Karnataka. These children, posing as reporters from Dharwad, Chamarajanagar, Tumkur and Bellary participated in the two-day state level consultation cum workshop to accelerate their work as child reporters.“Child Reporters is one activity that helps the KCRO to scale up and promote child rights, particularly keeping child participation as its focal point,” said Vasudev Sharma, member, Karnataka Commission for Protection of Child Rights (KCPCR).As part of the workshop, the children shared their experiences with the rest of their community. They made several observations about the system and even suggested affirmative steps to uphold child rights.“Through this seminar, we have been able to bring our core points to the forefront and hopefully drive changes home,” said a student representative who took part in the seminar.
