The year 2009 will be a happy year for all those celebrities who worked their way back into the limelight in 2008.
CNN-IBN picks up three celebrities who made the biggest comeback this year.
BRITNEY SPEARS
If anyone made a comeback in 2008 then it was Britney Spears. The 27-year-old not only cleaned up her act but also reclaimed her pop princess title with three MTV Video Music Awards to her credit.
Add to that a chart-topping brand new album Circus, and a comeback tour in March, her first in five years.
She might have lost the custody of her sons to ex-hubby Kevin Fedrline but she also lost her excess baggage.
Spears was back in shape and onstage at the VMAs in a stunning silver dress, a far cry from her bald and not-so-beautiful days.
And just on Monday, Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner increased her father's salary to about $16,000 per month for taking care of his daughter. And it seems to be working - Britney's back and how!
ROBERY DOWNEY Jr
Roberty Downery Jr too came a long way from his days of addiction and stints at rehab. The actor turned Iron Man and the most bankable movie star with Iron Man grossing $318.3 million in the US alone.
His genius-turned superhero Tony Stark act ensured that Marvel chose him as the lead in the second installment of Iron Man and in a new flick - The Avengers as well.
TINA FEY
Comedian Tina Fey was thrust into the limelight for her Sarah Palin act on Saturday Night Live.
From the winks, to the nods and also the accent, Fey captured Republican vice-presidential candidate Palin 's mannerisms in a manner that brought the show back on every viewer's must watch list.
With three Emmy's to her credit for the NBC sitcom 30 Rock Tina Fey is here to stay. And now she has been voted entertainer of the year by the Associated Press.
