New Delhi: Constables Subhendu Rai and constable Rocky who lost their lives while during a fierce gunbattle against terrorists in Udhampur in Jammu and Kashmir were paid tributes by Border Security Force (BSF) officials on Thursday. They laid wreaths on the bodies of the constables which were wrapped in the tricolour.
The two BSF constables had managed to hold off the terrorist attack till further reinforcements from the Army were brought in.
Two terrorists, Noman and Mohammad Naved, had targeted a BSF bus on the way to Udhampur, which was carrying 30 personnel. Constable Rai who was driving the bus prevented one of the terrorists from entering the bus by keeping the bus door shut despite the terrorist firing at him from outside.
Meanwhile, Constable newly-recruited BSF trooper Rockey, emptied his entire magazine containing about 40 bullets when the two heavily-armed terrorists attacked.
While one of the terrorists Noman was killed in the shooting spree, the other Mohammed Naved alias Usman Khan, who claims to be an LeT operative, was caught alive.
The arrest of Usman Khan has put Pakistan in the dock once again even though it continues to deny that it is pursuing a policy of using terror groups to cause mayhem in India despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary. Usman's initial interrogation revealed that he is from Pakistan and his aim was to inflict heavy casualties and kill as many Indians as possible.
