THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Border Security Force (BSF), one of the largest para- military forces in the world, announced their arrival in the capital city in style by winning the DGP’s rolling trophy for best turn-out at the 65th Independence Day parade held at the Central Stadium here.The BSF jawans, clad in khakis and bright-coloured turbans, provided spectators with a perfect mix of discipline and controlled aggression, which also helped them win the Eagle’s Rolling Trophy for Best Turn-Out. Inspector Sandeep Kumar, who commanded the contingent, received the trophy from Chief Minister Oommen Chandy. It was for the first time that BSF was taking part in the Independence Day parade in the state. The BSF headquarters in the city is just over a month old.  To mark their presence in the state, the BSF authorities handpicked 28 of their jawans from their units at Thiruvananthapuram, Thrissur and  Kozhikode for the Independence Day parade. Deputy Inspector-General of BSF George Manjuran was also present at the celebrations.Meanwhile, the contingent of Kerala Armed Police IV Battalion won the Chief Minister’s trophy for the best police contingent in the parade.
