Boxer Manoj Kumar bites the dust in last-16
The Indian lost to Great Britain's third-seeded Thomas Stalker 20-16 in the 64kg category.

London: Indian boxer Manoj Kumar bowed out of the Olympics on Saturday night after a 20-16 pre-quarters defeat by Great Britain's third-seeded Thomas Stalker in the men’s light welter category (64kg).

Stalker got off to a great start using his height to a great advantage. His jabs were bang on target. Manoj looked all over the place as he lost 7-4.

The Great Britain boxer continued his assault in the second round as well and romped to an easy 9-5 win.

With the odds against Manoj, the Indian fought valiantly in the final round. He won 7-4 but it was not enough as he exited the hallowed event.

Stalker will now either play Colin Richarno or Munk-Erdene Uranchimeg in the quarter-finals.
