CNN-IBN investigations exposed how municipal bodies were turning a blind eye towards the problem inspite of crores of rupees being sanctioned for road maintainance.

Mumbai: A PIL on potholes is likely to come up in the Mumbai HC today. The BMC is expected to file details of records available with them before the court.

This comes after Mumbai high court took cognizance of the bad conditions of roads due to potholes in Mumbai, Thane and Navi Mumbai and issued notices to its civic bodies and the state government.

CNN-IBN had been running a campaign against the pothole menace in Maharashtra after a 48-year-old woman died in Mumbai after falling off a two-wheeler while trying to avoid a pothole on a road in Vasai. The incident took place on Friday near the Vasai rail bridge on July 19. She died three days later, on July 22. The woman who had her daughter pillion riding with her, died after suffering head injuries.

CNN-IBN investigations exposed how municipal bodies were turning a blind eye towards the problem inspite of crores of rupees being sanctioned for road maintainance. The channel has learnt that over Rs 3,800 crore have been spent on road reconstruction since 2008.
