Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday said that the BJP will face a massive setback in the upcoming Assembly polls in New Delhi on February 8.
Banerjee's Trinamool Congress (TMC) has thrown its weight behind Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Admi Party (AAP) for the Delhi polls. TMC spokesperson Derek O’ Brien recently uploaded a video on social media endorsing all AAP candidates, including Kejriwal.
Addressing a public meeting at Krishnanagar in Nadia district, Banerjee accused BJP leaders of instigating gun culture.
Without naming Union minister Anurag Thakur or his 'desh ke gaddaron ko goli maro saalo ko (shoot the traitors of the country)' slogan, Banerjee questioned how a central minister continues in a constitutional post despite speaking unconstitutionally.
"They are saying those who will not listen to ‘boli’ (talks), kill them with ‘goli’ (bullets) at protest locations," she said. "I would like to tell you that the BJP is making loose comments because they know that they are going to lose Delhi polls.”
Banejee said the BJP will "face a humiliating defeat in the national capital", like in earlier polls.
"They are losing elections all over and looting this country by selling Air India, BSNL, Railways and LIC. I don’t know what will happen to my country in future under the BJP rule," she said.
Banerjee also described the BJP as a party of "fekus" (those who bluff) who threaten people with guns and bullets to divide the country on the basis of religion. She also slammed Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for his "goli vs boli" comment.
"The BJP is a feku party. It is only interested in giving out fake news. It is trying to divide the country on the basis of religion and are threatening people with guns and bullets," she said.
The TMC supremo also criticised the BJP-led government at the Centre for destroying the harmony in the country by forcibly trying to implement the CAA, the NPR and the NRC.
On reports of an alleged rift among TMC workers, Banerjee said no leaders are more important than booth workers in Bengal. "I want a collective leadership. I don’t want to see any rift in the party," she said, adding her sources constantly inform her about district party leaders.
