Mumbai: Director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra believes that the warm reception to his latest film 'Bhaag Milkha Bhaag' is a sign of evolving tastes of the audiences, which can help storytellers and filmmakers like him to "break the glass ceiling".

'Bhaag Milkha Bhaag', which released July 12, is a biopic on former athlete Milkha Singh. Farhan Akhtar slips into the Flying Sikh's shoes to deliver a power-packed performance.

"It's a great sign that the audience's taste is changing and it is evolving. It's the country which is changing and that is reflecting in our movies today," Mehra said here at a press conference held for the success of the film.

"It's a happy sign, it gives us more latitude now to break the glass ceiling. This could be a defining moment for all of us, as storytellers, filmmakers, technicians and actors," he added.

However, Mehra, who has earlier helmed movies like 'Rang De Basanti' and 'Delhi-6', says it is important to reach the masses without following a set pattern of films.

"Reaching out to the masses is important without formalising the whole thing, like following a set pattern. It's very interesting, when I look at it and separate myself as a filmmaker, it's a healthy trend and we should be happy about it," Mehra said.
