United Nations: The United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has condemned the attacks in Norway. "The Secretary-General was shocked to learn about the large explosion in central Oslo and the shooting that took place in Utoya," said a statement from his office.

At least 87 people were reportedly killed in a shooting and bomb blast near several government buildings in the central part of Oslo.

A gunman disguised as a policeman opened fire at a youth camp being organized by the ruling political party.

"He condemns this violence and expresses his condolences to the Government of Norway and the families of the victims," it said.

The Norwegian government is trying to find the culprits. One person has reportedly been arrested in connection with the case.

Norway has around 500 troops in Afghanistan.
