KOCHI: The recommendations for birth control in the controversial Women’s Code Bill could be implemented only by creating awareness rather than imposing them, observed the seminar-cum-panel discussion organised by the Fiat Justicia on Wednesday at Govet Law College.Inaugurating the function, writer K L Mohana Varma said that the proposed bill could be implemented successfully only if people were given proper awareness about the economic and social challenges faced by the country because of the high population rate. Law College principal A S Saroja, who presided over the function, said that controlling the population was the interest of the country. “But the recommendations in the Bill could be implemented only if the citizens understand the norms in a positive way,” she said.T R Rajan, secretary to Justice V R Krishna Iyer Commission on Rights and Welfare of Women and Children, made a presentation on the proposed Women’s Code Bill.
