New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwals following on Twitter today crossed 10 million, further cementing his position as the second most followed Indian politician.

Kejriwal is second to Prime Minister Narendra Modi who has an overwhelming lead with around 25.4 million followers.

Kejriwal had climbed to the second place in November last year.

"His social media following has increased over the recent past with him stepping up his engagement through the usage of features like Facebook Live. His videos are also being watched by a huge audience on YouTube," an AAP volunteer said.

Although there are no official statistics in this regard, a quick analysis of the accounts of politicians active on Twitter appears to show that with around 6.69 million followers, Union External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj trails Kejriwal.

Congress leader Shashi Tharoor, a longstanding popular face on the microblogging site, is close behind with 4.72 million followers.

However, what these figures often hide are armies of bots -- accounts that are not specifically handled by individuals, that send out automated posts. PTI SBR BSA
