BHUBANESWAR: A two-day exhibition ‘Know Your Army’ has been organised by the Indian Army in Bhubaneswar to attract the youth of the State to join the Army. The exhibition, open to the public, displayed an array of various equipments that the army uses. The major attractions of the exhibition are the Quickfire L 70 40 mm anti-aircraft gun, Flycatcher Radar, USFM Radar and the JDU 23-mm twin barrel gun. The stalls displayed various skills of the army like the bomb disposal, engineering equipment like landmine detector, ecological battalion stall, NCC stall and infantry equipment stall like mortar. Another stall had the replicas of the equipment that could not be displayed. The day started with para sailing, folk dance performances from across the country like Bhangra, Chau and many more. The major attraction was the Daredevil Motor Cycle Display. From creating formations of Rath and Pyramid and jumping through the fire hoop, they did everything to keep the audience entertained. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, the chief guest for the event, appreciated the initiative of the Indian Army to encourage the youth to join the forces. More than 30 martyrs’ families and a few of the Army personnel who were disabled in action were felicitated at the event. The exhibition attracted a huge crowd with many families and youth from outside the defence background flocking to the exhibition.
