KOCHI: If you are looking for a place to sit and relish cuisines of your choice, then the food festival at the Helipad in Marine Drive offers you and your family some of the best tastes of Kerala.Ranging from the traditional thattukada to the cuisines of Arabia, the Food Blasto 2011 is something worth a visit.Beginning with the Kuttussan’s Bungalow, which offers chicken in the form of kebabs and fried varieties, its taste is finding favour with a rather huge crowd. If you have a liking for the northern cuisines of Kerala, then the appatharangal, a stall offering muttasirka, nai patthil, kannan pathiri, kakka rotty and ari orotty provides varieties of bread and rice which would leave you wanting more. Not to mention the Malabar biriyani types of the Malabar region. And for those who enjoy it spicy, the tapioca and fish curry being sold at the Kallushaappu Karikal stall, is the place to be. Fans of crab will especially throng here, as it is amply available at the stall. If you are in the mood for something more grand, we suggest you go for the Thai food. With a menu consisting of gaitod karthium phrik Thai ( a spicy Thai dry dish), ghai phad Thai( a variety of noodles) and gai satay( grilled chicken), it is definitely food befitting a king. Head straight to the Olive Garden stall if you are fond of Arabic cuisine. Grilled prawn, fish, lamb chops with a special tinge of garlic sauce, offer a great feast. There's tandoori chicken and romali rotis for those who like Northern fares. The Tamil thattukada stands out also. With fried idli’s mixed in pepper paste to the sambhar satham and vathal kazhambu and avarai kuthu, it might be a home coming for the Tamilians in Kochi. The ten day fest which will end on October 2, is being organised by Salim Hassan’s Food Wagon King’s Park, the DTPC and the The Thirdeye event management firm. The entertainment programmes for Food Blasto 2011 began on Wednesday.
