Angry over Online Exams, ITI students in MP Take Vow to Not Vote for BJP Till They are Scrapped

Hoshangabad/Betul: A group of students of an Industrial Training Institute in Madhya Pradesh have pledged not to vote for Bharatiya Janata Party unless online exams are scrapped.

A controversy erupted after two videos – one at Itarsi and another from Betul – featuring students taking the vow against the BJP surfaced on social media.

The said videos showing students of VL Industrial Training Institute, both boys and girls, taking an oath on Republic Day of not supporting BJP and or voting for it unless their demand of ending online exams was fulfilled.

The students also vowed not to help out any BJP workers unless their demand was met.

The students went on to swear that they would administer similar oath to three more people each and raise awareness among locals on BJP’s ‘corruption and injustice’ in Madhya Pradesh.

Institute director KK Tiwari, talking to the media, expressed ignorance about the entire episode, saying that the institute administration had nothing to do with it. “I will look into the matter. If this happened and that too by our kids, I would personally apologise to the BJP on behalf of the institution,” he said.

“We can’t even think of opposing BJP. Leaders from Hoshangabad, Betul and Harda always helped us in the need of hour,” he added.

Harishankar Jaiswal, president of the Hoshangabad unit of the BJP, told News18 said that vice president Sandesh Purohit had met the ITI director who denied any role by the administration in the incident. “We have complained to divisional Commissioner who would probe into the matter,” he said, adding that they will wait for the facts to be cleared before seeking action.

BJP MP unit president Nandkumar Singh Chauhan, however, trashed the videos. “It seems a handy work of miscreants. The videos by no means reflect the situation in the state,” he told the media.

Congress spokesperson Pankaj Chaturvedi said that BJP under CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan has been making false promises and the reactions from the youngsters is just an example of the misrule by the party in the state.
