MADURAI: Wielding his close links with M K Alagiri, ‘Attack’ Pandi had refused to pay house rent since 2008 and had threatened the house owners to sell the house to him, according to a complaint that was filed on Sunday. According to a complaint petition from K Prithiviraj, South Veli Street, submitted to Madurai District SP, he was working as a development officer in LIC and had borrowed LIC loan of Rs 20 lakh to construct a three storey house in 2004. ‘Attack’ Pandiapproached Prithiviraj claiming that he needed a house for rent and stated that he was running an advertisement business at Jaihindpuram and was also constructing a house at TVS Nagar. He said he wanted a house to stay on temporary basis. He rented the first floor of the house, for two years agreement with an advance of Rs 50,000 and Rs 4,500 as monthly rent in the year 2006. From March 2007 to March 2008, the monthly rent was deducted from the advance, the complainant has mentioned in his petition. As the agreement period of two years expired in March 2008, Prithiviraj and his brother K Lakshimipathy asked Pandi to vacate the house. However, Pandi threatened the brothers to sell the property to him and he was ready to give any price but if they still persisted on getting rent, they may have to face dire consequences. When Prithiviraj attempted to file a complaint at Avaniapuram police station, Pandi along with his henchmen threatened to destroy the family. Further, Pandi has threatened other tenants in the building, forcefully vacating them. On July 10, 2011, Prithiviraj and his wife had approached Pandi again. ‘Attack’ Pandi and his accomplices verbally abused the couple and threatened them to register the house in his name within a week’s time by taking the money he was ready to give. Hence, Prithiviraj sought the police department to take action against ‘Attack’ Pandi, his accomplices, Kannan, Jothivelan, Jayapandi, Sathish Kumar, Batsha and Prabhu and redeem the Rs 2 crore worth property. Based on the complaint, ASP, Mayil Vahanan and Tiruparankundram DSP, Murugesan made enquiries. After an enquiry, a case was filed in Avaniapuram police station and Avaniapuram Inspector, Gajendran investigated the case. Followed by the investigation, police arrested Pandi alias ‘Attack’ Pandi, his accomplices, Kannan, Sathish Kumar, Jothivelan and Jayapandi and remanded them. Police were also looking out for other accused, a press statement from SP office observed.
