Close on the heels of Uttar Pradesh minister Shivpal Yadav ruling out revoking suspension of IAS officer Durga Shakti Nagpal, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav took a tough stand saying the suspension decision was right and in the interest of communal harmony.

Akhilesh said anyone trying to flare up communal tension in the state would be punished. Nagpal was suspended for demolishing the wall of an under-construction mosque in Greater Noida.

However, refuting government claims, Gautam Budh Nagar District Magistrate report on suspended IAS officer Durga Shakti Nagpal has said that she did not order the demolition of a portion of the mosque as alleged by the Uttar Pradesh government, according to sources.

It says she merely told villagers to follow the Supreme Court guidelines.

According to sources, the District Magistrate's report also says no tension erupted in the area at the time of her presence at the spot.

What's your reaction?
