Resident associations in various areas represents the issues faced on every day life. Through these associations citizens address the civic woes surrounding their area. City Express, takes a detailed look at the issues relating to one of the resident association in the city. Ideal Homes Residents Association of Raja Rajeshwari Nagar informed that the residents are facing severe problems with regards to water supply, garbage dump, improper roads, electric wires and lack of playgrounds.The president of the Ideal Homes Residents Association, Srinath Babu, said, “The water pipes were laid about 20-25 years ago. There were instances when heavy vehicular movement have damaged the water pipes laid on these roads, and their is a tendency of it getting damaged again.” He added, “The Bangalore Water Supply and Sewage Board has promised the residents to replace the water pipes for past 15 years. But till now no action has been taken.”Leakage of water pipes is a common sight. He also added that Corporator of Raja Rajeshwari Nagar, Ramachandra G H has been solving the grievances. “Corporator has arranged for water tanks to supply water to the highly affected areas,”he said.The Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike, Joint Commisioner of Raja Rajeshwari Nagar Zone, K M Ramachandran, said, “I have interacted with the concerned authorities of BWSSB regarding the replacement of pipes. The issue will be solved at the earliest possible.”Street lights are no exceptions in this locality. As the trees grow taller, the electric cables gets disrupted, leading to improper power supply. Vani Vaidyanath, a resident  said, “Though we have complained to Bangalore Electricity Supply Company Limited  on several times, to trim the twigs of the trees, the issue is passed on to the forest department. The roads are can be cleared only when the trimming is done, which is the responsibility of BBMP.”“The tenders have been called for collecting the garbage. We assure that the problem will be solved soon,” added K H Ramachandra.In order to address the grievances of the residents, the association holds meetings every month with the BBMP, police department and other departments where the civic issues are brought to the forefront. During this interaction, reports on civic issues on behalf of the citizens by the association is handed over to the concerned authorities. The residents of Raja Rajeshwari Nagar appreciated the endeavour of the association. Vani said that five years ago the association members took an initiative to set the wet waste converted plant, but two years ago the BBMP shut the plant down, in the name of development.
